The Portawind is designed to unspool and wind quickly, wrapping around a spool enclosed in weather-proof material. It’s made to be operated by either right or left-handed users and is portable, easy-to-use, and convenient. The invention is made to take straps on and off cargo quickly and offers better control of the straps. Plus, the clean-up time is more than half! Roll perfect rolls every time!

To use the Portawind, place a cargo strip around the spool. Then, turn the ambidextrous crank over the load, tightening it in place. To remove cargo straps, attach one end to the spool, then crank the cargo strip away. The handle allows the user to have great control over the cargo strip, so it unrolls at a steady pace and protects the user from the carabiner flying back. It can be used for cargo strips of all sizes and protects against inclement weather.

Inventor Eddie Cannon of Whispering Pines, NC, has created a portable cargo strap winder for truckers. As a veteran of the trucking industry for over 30 years, Eddie had plenty of experience with the frustration of trying to wind and unwind cargo straps in the rain, snow, or mud.
